PharmaScint

PharmaScint is a medical imaging service company that provides clinical imaging trial, data management, and analysis solutions to the pharmaceutical industry. The focus on this niche market is to aid clients in evaluating optimal delivery routes and efficacy for new pharmaceuticals (current global drug delivery market >US$50 billion).
The use of gamma-scintigraphic imaging as a therapeutics developmental tool is rapidly emerging with an estimated market worth in excess of US$15 million annually. PharmaScint focuses on the largely untapped market of three dimensional (3D) imaging studies of drug delivery and bio-distribution using single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and positron emission tomography (PET). These imaging techniques have the distinct advantage over conventional 2D imaging of providing superior spatial information about drug distribution in the body, thus serving the pharmaceutical industry better in their product development.
In addition, PharmaScint is developing and applying sophisticated imaging techniques to localise the drug with the highest anatomical definition by combining the SPECT or PET imaging with CT and MRI imaging and fusing the images together.

The executive team has extensive research and clinical experience in 3D imaging trials. Uniquely, PharmaScint can process data acquired by clients at other imaging centres around the world and provide standardised, advanced processing techniques to maximise the information contained in the images.

PharmaScint’s intent is to:

  1. Work predominantly in 3D SPECT and PET imaging and investigate structure/function relations using CT and MRI imaging;
  2. Focus on assessing respiratory pharmaceuticals and drug delivery;
  3. Develop standardised analyses for multicentric trials;
  4. Further develop the concept of ‘dose modelling’ by advanced data acquisition and analysis strategies to accelerate the evaluation of new radiopharmaceutricals;
  5. Capitalise on access to patients with a wide spectrum of conditions to provide more clinically relevant studies for PharmaScint clients.
